The Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) is the sole recognized governing body for the sport of kickboxing in Papua New Guinea, dedicated to its growth and development.
The history of kickboxing in our nation began in 1997, thanks to the pioneering efforts of Chief Stanley Nandex. His passion and dedication laid the foundation for the sport's widespread popularity throughout the country.
Chief Nandex's journey in martial arts commenced in 1987 at the age of 13. He initially trained in Yung Judo before transitioning to PNG Kakufuse Kungfu Martial Arts, a discipline that blends Karate, Kung Fu, and Jujitsu. He achieved the esteemed rank of 4th Dan Black Belt in this art.
In 1997, Chief Nandex was invited to participate in the first-ever kickboxing competition, becoming an Association president. Originally established as the PNG Kickboxing Association, the organization transitioned to the PNG Kickboxing Federation in 2014, reflecting its expanded role and reach.
Today, the PNG Kickboxing Federation is proud to have a membership exceeding 8,000 individuals, with active participation in numerous provinces across the country. We are committed to fostering excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship within the sport of kickboxing.
